Awareness Project

With this composition I wanted to bring awareness to the decreasing tiger population. This has always been an important subject for me since tigers have been my favorite animal since I was a little girl. It is estimated that there are just under 3,200 tigers left in the entire world due to illegal poaching and habitat loss. The dwindling number of this majestic animal is humanity’s fault and it should be our job to fix it. I wanted to capture the true heartbreak of this situation with my poster and that is why, instead of choosing a real tiger, I chose Tigger, beloved storybook character from A. A. Milne’s “Winnie the Pooh” that multiple generations have come to love. I twisted his catchphrase “I’m the only one” to give off a sad, despairing connotation instead of his happy song to further my point across.

I got both of these images from Google and I layered them in photoshop. I used the easer tool to erase the snow background from my Tigger image so that it looks like he is apart of the dark forest background. Originally, the forest was much greener, to make it look less pixelated in parts and also to give off a dismal, isolated tone, I applied a yellow photo filter. The text is in Avenir font in a combination of italics and bold. I staggered the words because I liked the look the best and what it also invokes when read.
